Born in Flin Flon (FLIN FLON????), Manitoba, she grew up in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan and now resides in Yellowknife, NWT, Canada.
Think you' ve had some interesting gigs? She has worked as a waitress, dump truck driver at a Pulp Mill, a special education teacher and a belly dancer.
How she started playing bagpipes: "When we moved to Yellowknife, I attended the Canada Day Parade on our first day here.
The NWT Pipe Band marched past and I realized I needed to be doing THAT. Luckily, the band here gives lessons and so I joined about 9 years ago, and began to learn with the help and instruction of all the pipers.
I made it my goal to become as good as I possibly could and to overcome my fear of public performance by taking on solo jobs when they were available.
My proudest performance was the honour of playing at the funeral of my Grandmother, Olga Sutherland, in June. I love to go to band practice, and as our band's PR person I'm always trying to think of new and fun ways to promote our band and contribute musically to our community.
Also I went over Niagara Falls in a barrel one time. (Not really I just can't think of anything that interesting about myself lol)
We think she's awesome, and JUST WAIT until you see her calendar photo - as of this post, it might just be our favorite in the entire calendar!
