Kevin R. Blandford Memorial’s representative in our calendar is the person who now fills his shoes in the band - Pipe Major Martha Hall!
Martha began piping in 1990, taking lessons from none other than Kevin Blandford himself. Since that time, she’s become wildly successful in both her piping career and her other roles.
She’s currently a Grade 1 soloist and Pipe Major of a massively successful grade 3 band by night, a Professor of Mathematics at the local college by day, and a mother of two girls all the time! Color us impressed!
Check her out rocking the MSR at one of her first solo Grade 1 contests. Can’t wait to see her on our walls for a month in 2019!
The Band was founded by Kevin Blandford in 1986, and was originally known as the R.P. Blandford & Son Pipes and Drums, after their sponsors. It was later renamed in honor of its founding Pipe Major, who passed away in November 2003.
They have suited up in the Roxburgh district tartan for multiple appearances at the World Pipe Band Championships, including top 6 finishes in Grade 3A or 3B in 2000, 2004, 2007, and most recently in 2017.
