I hope that you all had a wonderful holiday season and that you're ready for an amazing 2016! I wasn't able to go home to California this year, but will make it up to my parents in Febuary. It was a roasting 72 degrees on Xmas day in NYC! It's now down to -5..... I suppose we deserve this.
On to the events!
Let’s see… this Event Wednesday we have a few great items!
In the NYC area on Friday night, the British Regiments Tour arrives in Greenvale. The concert features the Band of the Royal Marines and the Pipes, Drums & Highland Dancers of the Scots Guards. For tickets and info, click HERE.
On Saturday the 9th in NY State there’s a Hogmanay party in Saranac Lake hosted by the St. Andrew's Society of the Adirondacks.
Aspiring fiddler? There’s the Scottish Fiddle Workshop hosted by the New York Caledonian Club on Saturday the 9th. For any fiddlers, advanced beginners and up, who would like to learn
a Scottish tune or two! Please note that this is not a class for absolute beginners and the tunes are taught traditionally without sheet music. Check out the W&T events page for details.
Also on Saturday the 9th (I’m super disappointed to miss this) it’s “Two Shotts and a Pint” night in North Carolina! Pipers Andrew Bova and Dan Nevans of World Champion Shotts and Dykehead Caledonia Pipe Band will be in Raleigh putting on a show and sharing a few pints with Wake and District Public Safety Pipes & Drums! If you’re in the area, pop in for a pint!
You can attend an early Burns Nicht hosted by the Ancient Universities Alumni in Boston on Saturday. The evening will begin with a reception starting at 5:30pm. A bagpipe and drum demonstration and a performance by Highland Dance Boston will follow. The pipers, Kevin Wisehart and Heather Wisehart, the drummer, Quinn McCormack, and Highland Dance Boston will lead the procession to dinner at 7pm. After dinner, the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society will perform and then lead in Country Dancing until 11:30pm. .
