I know a lot of you are in Scotland waiting to compete and some of you are just there to have some fun (most of you both...).
I'm excited to see the result of the Rikki Evans 'Pipeathon'. He's going for a Guinness World Record in bagpiping. 24 hours straight! The pipeathon record was first attempted in 2013 by a piper in Las Vegas called Ryan Randall but was not officially recorded as a Guinness World Record. Due to unforeseen circumstances Ryan only managed 7hrs 14min but had manage 18 hours on a practice run. Rikki is hoping to smash this out record with a full 24hour run the week of Piping Live!
Stateside, there are the 37th Annual Maine Highland Games, where you can expect to see Albannach, Pipe Bands, Clan Tents, Highland Dancing, Sheep Herding, Harps and more!
Also happening all weekend is the Buffalo Niagara Scottish Festival. BNHV’s 31st Annual Buffalo Niagara Scottish Festival, Highland Games and Gathering of the Clans will be held on Saturday, August 15th, 2015 from 11AM-6PM, with a Ceilidh pre-party on Friday, August 14th, 2015 from 5PM-10PM.
The Ceilidh will be held at Stockman’s Tavern, 9870 Transit Road in Swormville, and feature live music, Celtic-themed fare and raffles. There is no cost to attend the Ceilidh!
Wherever you are this weekend, have fun and give us a shout on Facebook or Twitter!
