His grandfather, Drum Sergeant William King, Sr. was a founding member of the band in 1974 and his father, Thomas J. King, Sr. is the current Drum Major of the band. His uncle, William Jr. is the Pipe Major. For the King family, S&T is truly a family affair.
Tommy is a 13 year veteran of the Ocean County Police Department and has performed as a SWAT operator for 3 years. He is also the firearms instructor for the department. Tommy has two sons. Evan, 5, is an aspiring drummer and enjoys following in his father's footsteps by marching with S&T in the St. Patrick’s Parade. Liam, 2, was named after his grandfather.

You’ve likely seen Shamrock and Thistle in one of many parades wearing the “Loud McLeod” tartan. The band proudly wears full Highland Dress military uniforms, including the world famous black feathered bonnet.
The current cost to outfit ONE band member is approximately $2,500! They perform in parades, concerts and hold fundraisers like their famous annual pub crawl to offset the cost.
The band has attended dedications all over New Jersey and New York, including the New Jersey Vietnam Memorial, Gulf War Veterans in Seaside Heights, and the 175th Anniversary in Freehold for the Adelphia Fire Company.
They commonly perform, as a service, for the American Legion and every year in Toms River at the 4th of July Normandy Beach Flag Raising Ceremony honoring all branches of the military.
