Other activities include Heavy Athletics, Highland Dancing, Clans and a Ceilidh on Friday night from 7-10:00pm!
Also in Canada is the Festival of the Tartans in Nova Scotia 15-19 July. The Festival of Tartans began as “The Braemar” in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia. It was introduced as a way to enable local sports enthusiasts to prepare themselves for other sport competitions through-out the province. The Festival of Tartans has been growing substantially, and after five decades of success, it is as strong as ever! This celebration owes its success to the devoted community effort of New Glasgow and Pictou County. Event includes kilted golf, a Gaelic workshop, heavy athletics, “Tartan Teardown” Variety concert and more!
Whisky and Tartan will be handing out the new bottle opener keychains and getting a photoshoot or 2 out of the way for the NAPB Calendar at the Glasgow Lands Scottish Festival in Northampton, MA on July 18th. I love this festival.
The venue, Look Park, is really lovely and one of my favorites. The event runs from 9am – 9:30pm with entertainment from Albannach, Soulsha and Prydein. They even have a new tent this year in case you want to stay out of the sun (or rain).
Event includes Highland Dancing, solo and Grades 1-5 pipe band events and Drum Major competition. Don’t forget to get some delicious Scottish grub from Cameron’s Scottish Market while you’re there!
