What a great day at Rhode Island last Saturday June 13th! I left my Manhattan apartment at 7:30am, even earlier than I leave for work! Gladly there was no traffic and I got there about 10:00am.
After meeting up with some friends from the Stuart Highlanders, we went inside for Massed Bands.
It was pretty hot and humid even at 11:30am, but I caught some children’s Highland Dancing, Scottish Heavy Athletics and lots of pipes! I even scored a 6-pack of Irn-Bru courtesy of Cameron’s Scottish Market. Of course, a few are going to Scott Stanger - have to get that arranged.
Congratulations to New York Metro Pipe Band for winning the MSR Drumming prize and to the Stuart Highlanders for winning Grade 1 Medley and MSR.
Congratulations are also in order for Claddagh Mhor. The band had their best finish to date with 2nd place Grade 5 in a field of 11, two 2nds in piping, 3rd in drumming and 1st place in the ensemble!
