    Event Wednesday

    June 3, 2015

    Siouxsie

There are a few events going on this weekend that you might like to check out.

First we have the Modesto, CA Highland Games on Saturday 6 June.  This games celebrates Scottish, Irish, Cornish, Norwegian and Welsh cultures.  Gates open at 9am and there will be Highland Dancing, Solo Piping, Heavy Athletics, Dueling Bagpipes and more!

Also on Saturday at 9am, but going until 10pm, is the Milwaukee Highland Games. There will be a Haggis Taco Eating Contest (I MUST find photos of this…), Sheepdog demos, Children’s Area, Horses, Parade of Tartans, Massed Bands and all your regular Games events.

The Milwaukee HIghland Games Céilidh begins at 6:00pm, but the Beer Tent will feature music throughout the day by Dublin O'Shea, War Piper, and Dirty Wellies (I love the name of that band!).

HINT: You can get $3.00 off before 10:00am with a per person donation of non-perishable food item to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Milwaukee.

On Sunday the 7th in New Jersey, the NJ Irish Festival is happening at Monmouth Park Racetrack.  IRISH, you say?  Well, yes, technically, but this is a EUSPBA sanctioned solo and pipe band competition. So you will see the likes of Grade 2 New York Metro Pipe Band, among others!

If you are wondering about getting there from NYC, it’s a quick ride (less than 90 mins) on NJ Transit “Coast” train.  Trains stop right at Monmouth Park Station.  Directions HERE.

Let us know your plans this weekend!
