Sure, there’s the warmer weather (FINALLY) and a long weekend, but did you know May is also Whisky Month? Whisky Month is where we pay homage to Scotland’s national drink, or 'uisge beatha' as it’s called – the ‘water of life’. Join in the celebrations with excellent events throughout the month, including whisky festivals, tastings and more in Scotland and all over the U.S. More than 70,000 people are expected to attend events in Scotland alone!
Be sure to check the events page for listings in your area.
In Scotland, for example, one festival is Fèis Ìle (or Islay Festival) - The Islay Festival of Malt and Music. It was founded by the locals on the Isle of Islay back in 1986 to celebrate the heritage and culture of the Island which boasts a whopping EIGHT malt whisky distilleries! During 22-30th May 2015, each distillery holds its own “open” day, where you’ll find special events. The week is also packed with traditional music, golf, ceilidhs, guided walks and other outdoor activities.
