This week is always difficult for me, because believe it or not, I have a full time day job. So it’s get to work early, slip out to Bryant Park, not want to leave Bryant Park, have to leave Bryant Park, go back to work. Then it’s events almost every night. Exhausting!! But the best week ALL YEAR. Bagpipes and tartan at every turn, Scots excited to be in the Big Apple, music, whisky tastings, art, meeting people you’ve been Tweeting with all year and seeing people of like mind almost every day. It’s really such a high.
The Tartan Day observance yesterday was wonderful, with Ken Donnelly reciting the Treaty of Arbroath and 2 out of 3 Highland Divas singing a cappella in Bryant Park. I decided (at the last minute, thanks or no thanks to Chris Williams) that I would Live Stream the event on Periscope. Mind you, I hadn’t even downloaded the app when I spilled out that I was going to do it. So, sitting in my office, I called Ashley from Outlanders United for her help. I live streamed out my office window for a few minutes, she said it looked good, so that was that! At the end of the week, it will be very interesting to see what people thought and how many even tuned in.
Hannah Read and Scottish Octopus were brilliant yesterday in Bryant Park, even though she was cut a wee bit short due to some sprinkles.
Can you spot the Highland Dancer in the window?
Last night was the Belhaven tap takeover at Caledonia NYC. Master Brewer George Howell gave us a great beer lesson and tasting. Also joining for some pints were the ladies from Shot of Scotch.
I think today really starts the weekend. Cat arrives from Glasgow in the afternoon and we have plans and events morning, noon and night until her departure on Monday. Starting with the Highland Divas show tonight at the Metropolitan Room. Tickets start at $20 and are available HERE. I’ll need to sleep for a week after all of this!
Off to see Hannah Read perform in Bryant Park with Jeff Picker and Sarah Jarosz in a few minutes, look for photos!!
